Free Sewing Class

It is that time of year! Simple Sewing is starting back up!!! I teach a free sewing class with free child care at my church (Johnson Ferry Baptist) once a month! I am so excited this year some of my sweet friends will be helping me teach. We have some fun things planned. I personally want to invite anyone in the Atlanta area to come out and join the group. It is a great place to meet others with similar interest and learn something new as well. Classes are perfect for beginners. Our first class will be September 16th  to register go to JFBC.

"Four prayers beyond salvation for your children"

Mentors like Eli

It was night. “Samuel” the Lord said. Samuel got up and ran to Eli, his mentor, “Here I am; you called me.” He was sent back to bed. Again the Lord called and again Samuel went to Eli. Eli sent him back again saying he hadn’t called. After a third time Eli caught on and told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening”.

As far as we know that’s the first time Samuel and the Lord had talked. Though Samuel had literally grown up in the church, he needed Eli’s help defining the voice of God.

We all value the people in our lives that have helped us draw closer to the Lord. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” Proverbs 27:17. Our children are no different; they need experienced Christ followers to help them cultivate that relationship.

Pray for the men and women that will come into your child’s life and help them hear and know the voice of God. People that will help them decipher between feelings/desires and conviction. Pray for mentors.

With Love, Sam

“Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16

It’s that time of year again when our calendars fill up quickly. We fill out forms for school, this sport, that Bible study, volunteer positions. We sign up to be room moms, facilitators, carpool buddies. I tell you what - Fall has it all!

This verse in Ephesians directs us to measure our activities to insure we are engaged in the direction God has willed for us. We only get so many days to breathe, to be momma, to live out what God has planned for us.

So spend a few minutes envisioning your time, your days. What’s of upmost importance to you? Make a list – is it your season to grow in the knowledge of the Lord? Maybe your child needs the confidence that comes from playing on a team or maybe they need your special attention at home? Is this a critical time for carrier growth for you? Do you need to seek our friendships?

Once your list is made, then form a vision from it, understanding what the Lord’s will is (vs 17). What are you hoping the end of the year will look like? This will make it much easier to mark yes/no on that next volunteer form. Be wise – make the most of the opportunities at hand so that you will abide in Christ and walk in the path He has marked out for you.

Do you Pin?

Since my two little bundles arrived my time to blog is limited. So my new obsession is Pinterest. You have to check it out. Pinterest is a amazing site that allows you to save every wonderful thing you find online. It is a online file folders system.

You get a button on your toolbar that reads "Pin". When you see something you like you just click "pin". Every photo on that web page pops up and you just click on the one you want.

Then you post it in to the category you want. There is no limit of category's or Boards you can create.
I have each holiday, sewing, kids, home, ect.

Now the photo and link is save on your board. The really fun part is that you can follow or be followed. I love seeing what my friends have pinned. You can follow a category or bored. I am currently working on preschool stuff. But you may only want to follow my sewing pins or my house stuff. I love this site! Take a look. I think you will love it as much as I do.
